La Princesse is a 37-ton mechanical spider that is 15 meters tall. It was created and was operated by the French performance art collective La Machine. The spider was on exhibit in Liverpool, England as part of the 2008 European Capital of Culture celebrations. It was put on exhibit in 2009 in Yokohama, Jᴀᴘᴀɴ, to mark the 150th anniversary of the port’s foundation.
