The black rhino was seen drinking from the watering hole when she ʟᴏsᴛ her footing and fell in. The rhino, who was clearly pregnant, attempted to climb the bank but almost fell back into the water. Three opportunistic hungry lions almost licked their lips at the thought of a simple feast when they noticed the rhino’s situation and began to circle the helpless rhino.

In the end, the courageous rhino, determined to defend both herself and her young calf, is seen mustering the strength to hoist herself onto the bank. One of the lions attempted to Bɪᴛᴇ her as soon as she jumped onto her back, though.

The rhino appeared helpless, but it would not yet be devoured. The lions attempted to snag the rhino in the water, but it was able to regain its balance and move back onto dry land. They strategically surrounded it and targeted its vulnerable spots at every turn. When the rhino emerged, the scaredy-cats ran away from the area.

David Wederell, a 31-year-old tourist from the UK, had the good fortune to see the drama unfold while on a guided safari trip. According to David, who was able to record the unusual gathering on camera, it was quite tense to witness.
