Three ᴛᴇʀʀɪғɪᴇᴅ lions were ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋed in Bᴏᴛsᴡᴀɴᴀ by an angry hippo that spotted them swimming across a river. As the three lions attempted to cross the Selinda Spillway in northern Bᴏᴛsᴡᴀɴᴀ, a hippo guarding its area charged at them, as shown on film.
One of the lions is lifted out of the water by the hippo in a video provided by the charity organization Great Plains Conservation before it can cross the river and flee. Two more lions were seen swimming hastily back to where they started. The three lions had just entered the river, and they were concentrating all of their attention on the nearby hippo.
The hippo, however, promptly swam in the direction of the lions after a brief delay. One lion was observed panicking before swimming back to the shoreline as the other two lions tried to get to the opposite side.
The hippo, however, quickly caught up with them and pursued one of the lions, striking it as the lion roared. The scared lion jerked in different directions in an attempt to escape the hippo’s clutches and was successful in rushing ashore and fleeing. The hippo tried to Bɪᴛᴇ the lion and was seen raising it into the air.
