Giant Container Ship Ever Ace Maiden Call At Rotterdam Port, It’s Really Big!

The massive cargo ship Ever Ace was launched in July 2021. It carries the flag of Pᴀɴᴀᴍᴀ and is the first of ten enormous container ships built by Samsung Heavy Industries in Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Kᴏʀᴇᴀ. It is operated by Tᴀɪᴡᴀɴese maritime corporation Evergreen Marine Corporation, just like the Ever Given.

The ship travels the Cʜɪɴᴀ-to-Europe Express Service, a freighter route. Since it can carry 28 more conventional 20 feet by 8 feet (6.10 meters by 2.4 meters) cargo containers than the HMM Algeciras, which held the previous record, the Ever Ace is regarded as the largest container ship in the world.

With 21,710 containers, it now holds the record for the number of containers carried aboard a ship in a single voyage. The previous record had about 300 less containers. Ever Ace weighs 255,579 tonnes, which is equal to the combined weight of 38,780 elephants and 1,178 blue whales.

The ship is 1,300 feet long and 400 meters tall, standing more than 90 meters higher than The Shard in London and almost 20 meters longer than the Empire State Building in New York. Its size can be compared to other significant UK structures including the Eden Project in Cornwall, the Stormont in Northern Iʀᴇʟᴀɴᴅ, and the Angel of the North in Newcastle.
