The giant mechanical spider – La Princesse

La Princesse is a mechanical spider that stands 15 meters tall and weighs 37 tons. The French performance art collective La Machine designed and ran it. The spider was on exhibit in Liverpool, England as part of the 2008 European Capital of Culture celebrations. In 2009, Yokohama, Jᴀᴘᴀɴ, displayed it to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the port’s founding.

Biggest dump truck – BelAZ 75710

BelAZ, a company based in Belarus, creates the BelAZ 75710. The cost of the entire vehicle exceeds $6 million. When loaded, it weighs 450 tons and 360 tons when empty. It is driven by two diesel engines with a combined output of 4600 horsepower, which is 4.6 times more than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the world’s fastest vehicle!

Biggest ship – OOCL Hᴏɴɢ Kᴏɴɢ

Samsung Heavy Industries built the OOCL Hᴏɴɢ Kᴏɴɢ, which is the largest cargo ship in the world. With a carrying capacity of 21,413 TEUs, it is the first ship to do so. The largest internal combustion engine in the world, the Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C, also drives the largest cargo ship in the world and produces over 80,000 kW of power!

Largest excavator – Bagger 288

The Bagger 288 (also referred to as the Excavator 288) is a mobile strip mining vehicle made by the German manufacturer Krupp. It is a member of a group of vehicles that include the Bagger 281, Bagger 285, Bagger 287, and others. It can remove as much heavy coal as a football field buried 30 meters below the surface, or 240,000 tons a day! In order for the Bagger to operate, 16.56 megawatts of externally supplied electricity are needed. It could move at a speed of 2 to 10 meters per minute (0.1 to 0.6 kilometers per hour).
