The Biggest Container Ship Ever Ace Maiden Call At Rotterdam Port

The massive cargo ship Ever Ace was launched in July 2021. It was the first of 10 enormous container ships that Samsung Heavy Industries in Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Kᴏʀᴇᴀ built, and it sails under the Pᴀɴᴀᴍᴀnian flag. It is operated by Tᴀɪᴡᴀɴese maritime business Evergreen Marine Corporation, just like the Ever Given.

The ship travels on the Europe Express Service, a shipping route that carries freight between Cʜɪɴᴀ and Europe. The Ever Ace, which can carry 28 more conventional 20 feet by 8 feet (6.10 meters by 2.4 meters) cargo containers than the previous record-holder HMM Algeciras, is regarded as the world’s biggest container ship.

It has about 300 more containers than the previous record and currently holds the record for the most containers carried on a ship in a single voyage with 21,710. Ever Ace weighs 235,579 tonnes, which is around 38,780 elephants and 1,178 blue whales combined.

The ship is 400 meters (1,300 feet) long, more than 90 meters taller than London’s The Shard, and around 20 meters longer than the Empire State Building in New York. As it is almost half a meter longer than the Ever Given, you may compare its size to other significant UK monuments including the Angel of the North in Newcastle, the Stormont in Northern Iʀᴇʟᴀɴᴅ and the Eden Project in Cornwall.
