Stits SA-2A Sky Baby

In an effort to surpass the previous record, Robert Starr and Ray Stits developed the Sky Baby in 1952. The pilot had to weigh 77 kg in order for the aircraft to maintain proper gravity, which was one of the requirements. When it approached the runway, it needed to be moving at a speed of 125 mph in order to safely land without having the engine cut off. The smallest aircraft ever built has a 2.1-meter wingspan, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Starr Bumble Bee

The Sky Baby held the record until Robert Starr’s invention of the Bumble Bee in 1984. In the same year, an airplane with a 2 meter wingspan took off in the direction of Marana, Arizona, and very rapidly smashed the Guinness World Record.

Cri-Cri

In 1971, aviation engineer Michel Colomban built the tiny two-engine plane known as the Cri-Cri. He desired to create a low-cost aircraft that was also capable of aerobatic maneuvers. As a result of his accomplishment, he gave it the name Christine in honor of his daughter, who went by the moniker Cri-Cri. The cantilever low-wing aircraft is made of lightweight aluminum sheet and features a single cockpit seat.
