Transporting The Grove Crawler Crane From Conexpo By Paul Delong Heavy Haul

The newest Grove Hydraulic Crawler (GHC) crane from Manitowoc, the GHC140, has been formally unveiled in North America. It is the  newest in a long line of telesᴄᴏᴘing crawler cranes, it has new features and the manufacturer claims it is the best load chart in its class.

This new model’s 52.1 m (171 ft) six-section, pinned boom has a maximum weight capacity of 127 t. (140USt). When outfitted with the 15 m (49.3 ft) offsettable bi-fold swingaway, its top tip height is 70 m. (229.7 ft). The GHC140 can swing loads a full 360° and carry at 100% of its load chart at angles up to 4°. In addition, new 1.5° load charts are presented.

Due to its ability to fit neatly onto a range of job sites, the crane will be especially beneficial to firms with applications in utility work, alternative energy applications, tunnel building, barge operations, and storage tank construction. Thanks to its pin telesᴄᴏᴘing boom, operators can easily handle a variety of lifts at various radii. Compared to older GHC models, users can now complete more tasks.

The GHC140’s crawler tracks can easily navigate difficult job site situations like swampy or rocky terrain thanks to their 57 percent gradeability rating. The undercarriage is driven by powerful, two-speed hydrostatic drive motors with best-in-class mobility. The track side structures, which are hydraulically extensible and retractable, give three track spans with lifting capabilities at each span. As a result, you have greater freedom to find the perfect balance between crane width and lifting capacity.
